Dr. (Major General) Jennifer A. Marrast Host is a distinguished Emergency Medicine Physician and Major General, currently based in Atlanta, Georgia. She brings over two decades of clinical and leadership expertise in both military and civilian medicine.
Her educational background is extensive, including graduation from the U.S. Army War College and earning a medical degree from Rutgers University–Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. She completed her Emergency Medicine residency at Mount Sinai in New York, where she served as Chief Resident.
Throughout her career, Dr. Marrast Host has excelled in both clinical and command roles. She currently serves as Associate Chief of Staff–Education and Designated Education Officer at the Atlanta VA, as well as in senior leadership positions with the 3d Theater Medical Command. Her military assignments include commanding major Medical Commands, medical brigades, and hospitals deployed in support of operations in the CENTCOM Theater. She oversees thousands of personnel, manages healthcare delivery in high-stakes environments, and enhances interagency and multinational collaborations.
In addition to her military service, Dr. Marrast Host has held executive roles in civilian hospitals, improving emergency department operations, staff training, and patient safety. She is recognized for introducing innovations such as electronic medical records in military settings and for advancing continuing education exchanges with international partners.
Her scholarly contributions include publications on pandemic response, electronic health records, and military medicine. Dr. Marrast Host is highly decorated, with multiple awards to include three Legion of Merit awards, and five Meritorious Service Medals. She is committed to fostering professional development and compassionate care for Veterans and service members.
